We need Sanders to save us

As I see it, the United States and the world face two enormous challenges and unless Bernie Sanders is elected it may be too late to do anything about it.

First, the enormous disparity in wealth and income. It's the worst it's been, worse than the 1920s. It leads to violence and revolutions. Bernie is by far and away the greatest advocate for solving that problem. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, is part of the Wall Street wing of the Democratic Party, the "establishment." Because virtually every other candidate depends on large donations from wealthy people do you really think they are going to get tough and bite the hand that feeds them? Most of Hillary's donors have given the maximum and are tapped out for the remainder of the primary season. Bernie keeps getting small donations from lots of people. When the fourth quarter campaign finance reports come out, look for Bernie to significantly out-draw Hillary.

Second, Climate Change. The world's rapidly approaching a tipping point beyond which the results for mankind are going to be catastrophic. Something has to be done quickly and on a large scale to drastically reduce the burning of fossil fuels. Again, Bernie is the greatest advocate for rapid, major change. And again, he is not dependent on donations from the major oil, gas and coal producers.

As I see it, the future of the world depends on this election. There is no time to spare. By midcentury drastic changes to the world's environment will be overwhelmingly apparent but it will be too late to change.

I'm 81 years old. I don't expect the environment to collapse in my lifetime. However, I worry for my children and grandchildren.
