US stocks inch higher in early trading

U.S. stocks are opening slightly higher as markets around the world are holding up better than many expected in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 43 points, or 0.3 percent, to 17,289 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time Monday.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose eight points, or 0.4 percent, to 2,031. The Nasdaq composite climbed nine points, or 0.2 percent, to 4,937.
The U.S. stock market is coming off its biggest weekly loss since August.
European markets shook off an early loss and were mixed in afternoon trading there. France's CAC-40 was down 0.5 percent.
Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.25 percent.
