Glenbard North to present 'I Hate Hamlet'

Get ready to laugh when Glenbard North High School students present the comedy "I Hate Hamlet."

Performances start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 19-21, in the Little Theatre at Glenbard North, 990 N. Kuhn Road, Carol Stream. Tickets are $8. For reservations, call (630) 681-3399.

In the play by Paul Rudnick, a young and successful television actor relocates to New York, where he rents a marvelous Gothic apartment. With his television career in limbo, Andrew Rally is offered the opportunity to play Hamlet onstage. But there's one problem: He hates Hamlet.

Rally's dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore's ghost, who arrives in full costume to the apartment that once was his. The contrast between the two actors - the towering, dissipated Barrymore, whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, and Rally, hot, young TV star - leads to a wildly funny duel over women, art, success, duty, television and even the apartment.

The cast includes Ken O'Leary as Andrew Rally, Grant Grace as John Barrymore, Kara Pierce as Deirdre McDavey, Rebecca Munoz as Felicia Dantine, Amber Wood as Lillian Troy, and Kyle Allison as Gary Lefkowitz.
