Carpentersville parents, look here to see where your child will attend school

Parents of students affected by boundary changes for several Carpentersville schools now can visit the district's website to determine what school their child will attend for the 2016-17 school year.

The Community Unit District 300 school board approved boundary changes late last month that affects students at Golfview, Lakewood, Meadowdale, Parkview, and Perry elementary schools and Carpentersville Middle School.

The schools will be reconfigured as follows:

• Golfview, Lakewood, Meadowdale, Parkview, and Perry will become prekindergarten through fifth-grade schools.

• Carpentersville Middle School will become a sixth- through eighth-grade building, adding sixth-graders who previously attended Lakewood.

• Golfview, Meadowdale, Parkview, and Perry will add fifth-graders who no longer attend Lakewood.

Parents can visit d300.org and use the interactive map to determine what school their child is zoned to attend. Families affected by the attendance boundary changes also will receive letters in the mail with more information.

The district conducted three town hall meetings and a communitywide phone survey to gather input on two possible boundary options, ultimately going with the option favored by the majority.

Officials have said lowering the student population at the five elementary buildings would create more space for ancillary services and potential future growth.
