Cubs officials excited for new radio home on WSCR

As had been expected since the White Sox announced in mid July they would move their radio broadcasts and leave WSCR 670-AM, the Cubs will be shifting their radio broadcasts from WBBM 780-AM to The Score starting with spring training.

WSCR and WBBM are both owned and operated by CBS. The Score will carry all regular and postseason games, as well as some exhibition games.

"Today's announcement provides a year round platform for the city's beloved sports franchis," ," said Rod Zimmerman, CBS Radio senior vice president and market manager.

"With the broadcast team continuing to deliver great coverage, our first year with CBS was outstanding, and we look forward to many more to come on WSCR," said Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney in a statement released Wednesday.

In addition to Cubs games being broadcast on WSCR-AM, The Score will also feature weekly segments with Cubs manager Joe Maddon during the "Spiegel and Goff Show" as well as the Cubs manager's show before every regular-season game and other promotional events.

The White Sox, who had been with WSCR since 2006, will be carried on WLS AM-890 next season, with Jerry Reinsdorf's Chicago Bulls team leaving ESPN 1000-AM and joining the White Sox on WLS for the 2016-17 season. Those agreements run through 2021.
