Barrington, Palatine and Arlington Heights schools receive Blue Ribbon Awards

Representatives from three Northwest suburban schools traveled to the nation's capitol Tuesday to receive Blue Ribbon Awards.

Hough Street Elementary in Barrington, St. Theresa School in Palatine and Our Lady of the Wayside School in Arlington Heights all received the prestigious award, along with 332 schools around the country.

Each school selected either has students who are achieving high learning standards, or students who are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap. The winning schools were selected by the U.S. Department of Education. The awards were given out as part of the two-day Blue Ribbon Schools conference.
