No close shave for Prospect Heights police in Relay fundraiser

For the second year, the Prospect Heights Police Department is raising awareness for cancer throughout November by growing their facial hair and collecting donations.

The money that the PHPD raises is being donated to local American Cancer Society Relay For Life events. These events raise money for cancer research and for free, local patient services. Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society save lives by funding groundbreaking cancer research, providing free information and critical services for people with cancer, in addition to supporting education and prevention programs. Collection will be on various days in the month of November at the intersection of Rand and Thomas roads.

PHPD will also be collecting donations at House of Music & Entertainment (HOME Bar), 1227 N Rand Road, in Arlington Heights from 8-11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Relay For Life-The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Individuals and teams raise funds and awareness to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.
