Northwestern State defeats Abilene Christian 39-22

Natchitoches, La. (AP) - Stephen Rivers threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns as Northwestern State beat Abilene Christian 39-22 on Saturday night.

Rivers was 21 for 28 with touchdown passes of 3 yards to Cody Jones, 2 yards to Shakeir Ryan and 65 yards to Ed Eagan.

Eagan finished with 13 catches and 212 yards receiving, the second-highest single-game total in his career and fifth-highest in school history. Eagan set the school record with 238 receiving yards last year. His 13 catches Saturday tied the school record which Eagan also holds with two other players.

De'Mard Llorens' 4-yard touchdown run gave Northwestern State (3-6, 3-4 Southland Conference) a 13-7 lead it would not relinquish.

Abilene Christian (2-7, 2-6) got 130 yards passing from Dallas Sealey who had one touchdown and one interception. He was 16 for 30. Herschel Sims led the Wildcats with 92 yards rushing on eight carries.
