Rolling Meadows man sentenced for throwing rock at car

A Rolling Meadows man who admitted throwing a rock that damaged an Uber driver's moon roof and led to gunshots being fired was sentenced to one year in prison Friday.

Alan Slawson, 20, was among five passengers picked up from a party about 3 a.m. June 6 by Uber driver Marvin L. White. Slawson and White began arguing during the ride, causing White to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Owl Drive and Holly Lane in Rolling Meadows, authorities said.

Slawson got out and threw a large rock, prompting White, who had a concealed carry permit, to pull out a gun, which police say he fired twice. The bullets did not strike anyone, police said.

Police arrested both Slawson and White, whose case on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm is pending.

Slawson pleaded guilty last month. He received credit for 154 days in custody, court records show.
