Gorton Community Center hosts Gene Siskel Film Series movie

Gorton Community Center, 400 Illinois Road, Lake Forest, announces the second movie in the Gene Siskel Film Series, "Paul Taylor Creative Domain," Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the center's John & Nancy Hughes Theater.

Paul Taylor is a world-renowned modern dance choreographer, considered to be one of the greatest living artists in his field. Coined "the naughty boy of dance" by Martha Graham, and applauded for his groundbreaking and innovative style, the octogenarian continues to create at the helm of The Paul Taylor Dance Company.

In "Paul Taylor Creative Domain," viewers gain unprecedented backstage access to the acclaimed choreographer, as director Kate Geis explores Taylor's process during the creation of the dance, "Three Dubious Memories." Telling the story of a jealous and passionate love triangle, Taylor reveals the subtle nuances of his historically private creative technique as he mentors his dancers on the art of form and emotion through dance.

Partnering with the Gene Siskel Film Center, Gorton's series aims to bring the same world class independent and documentary cinema to the John & Nancy Hughes Theater. "Paul Taylor Creative Domain" is a film that supports Gorton's goal to make connections and inspire thoughtful conversation.

"We are thrilled to welcome community members to our theater and to inspire a love of the arts, of learning, growing and connecting with others. Paul Taylor Creative Domain is a film that gives us reason why the artist creates and why creative expression gives voice to the performer and the viewer," said Brenda Dick, Gorton's executive director.
