Man convicted in 2011 killing of Chicago teen sentenced

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of a community activist's son has received a 100-year prison sentence.

Antonio Johnson was shot in the head Sept. 25, 2011, while helping his mother unload groceries outside their West Side home. Prosecutors alleged the gunman, Keith Talbert, was aiming for the 15-year-old's older brother - Anthony Johnson - because he refused to join the drug trade.

Annette Johnson, who often reported criminal activity in her neighborhood, was wounded in an arm during the shooting. Anthony Johnson wasn't injured.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1LQytsr ) the 30-year-old Talbert maintained his innocence before being sentenced Wednesday.

After the sentencing, Annette Johnson said her son's "beautiful brown eyes" went a New York girl who lost her sight in a shooting and his heart to another 15-year-old boy.
