2015 Downers Grove South Girls Swim Team Undefeated WSC Champions

The Downers Grove South Girls Swim Team prevailed on Saturday, October 31st when they clinched the West Suburban Conference Championship. This triumphant victory followed an undefeated conference season. The team got off to a great start on Friday night with divers Klarie Carlquist and Giana Fallara placing third and fourth in varsity diving. Saturday, the Mustangs successfully placed first in both the Fresh/Soph and Varsity 200 yard Medley Relays. Kaitlyn Hopp not only dominated first place in the 200 yard Freestyle but she also broke a conference record at 2:06.37. Gabbie Muzykansky and Annie Lienart claimed first places in the Fresh/Soph and Varsity 200 yard IM. Samantha Vallo and Alyssa Reinholz both took first in the Fresh/Soph and Varsity 50 yard Freestyle. Sophia Duax placed first in the Fresh/Soph 100 yard Butterfly. The Mustangs succeeded in earning top spots for the 100 yard Freestyle with Muzykansky and Isabelle Genin taking first and second places in Fresh/Soph followed by Nicole Molnar and Anna Bogdanski winning second and third places for Varsity 100 Freestyle. Hopp placed first in Fresh/Soph 500 yard Freestyle with Beth Vetter placing first and Makaila Scheiblein placing third for Varsity. The Fresh/Soph 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Hopp, Genin, Vallo and Muzykansky took first place and the Varsity team of Paige Vondrasek, Molnar, Scheiblein, and Reinholz took second. Lauren Diddia and Isabelle Genin captured first and second places in the Fresh/Soph 100 yard Backstroke while Reinholz and Molnar earned first and second place finishese in the Varsity 100 Backstroke. Coming in first place for Varsity 100 yard Breaststroke was Leinart. Finishing the meet strong, the Fresh/Soph 400 yard Freestyle Relay team of Hopp, Muzkansky, Vallo and Genin placed first followed by the Varsity Relay team of Bogdanski, Emma Sayre, Vetter and Leinart taking second place. In addition, Senior Aimee Dragas performed well as she continues to prepare herself to compete in the Athletes with Disability competition at Sectionals and State. The Mustangs are laser focused on making a strong statement at the upcoming Sectionals.
