University of Illinois Extension #GivingTuesday Food Drive

Grayslake, IL and Woodstock, IL - University of Illinois Extension has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. During the month of November, University of Illinois Extension will be hosting a food drive in an effort to give back to the communities that we serve. Occurring this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

This year, University of Illinois Extension will be hosting a food drive to benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank throughout the month of November, leading up to #GivingTuesday. As an organization, we hope to collect 300 lbs. of food during the drive to help fight hunger in our area. This is our way of giving back to the communities that we serve.
