IDOT works slows traffic through Barrington

Two Illinois Department of Transportation road projects are expected to affect traffic on two main roads in Barrington for the next few weeks, and village officials are urging drivers to consider different routes.

Road patching is underway on Northwest Highway between Main Street and Hart Road. Greg Summers, the village's director of development services, said IDOT moved their equipment into the area on Saturday, Oct. 24, and began patching on Monday, Oct. 26. Summers said the work is expected to wrap up in one to two weeks.

The other IDOT project will build a new right-turn lane from northbound Barrington Road to eastbound Dundee Road.

A message on the village website said the work is expected to make for heavy traffic delays and drivers should take alternate routes if possible.
