Elgin man accused of residential burglary

An Elgin man who police say climbed into the bathroom window of a stranger's home has been charged with residential burglary.

Carols Garrido-Ortiz, 24, of the 400 block of Princeton Avenue, was arrested early Friday after another resident of the block reported to police that a man had entered the home through a bathroom window.

The man fled after the resident confronted him, police said.

Elgin officers found Garrido-Ortiz, who matched the intruder's description, at a business on the 200 block of South Randall Road a short time later. The homeowner identified Garrido-Ortiz as the man who entered the home, police said.
