Volo woman pleads to bank robberies

VOLO, Ill. (AP) - A northern Illinois woman has pleaded guilty to robbing two banks and trying to rob a third.

The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald (http://bit.ly/1NDsYOj ) reports that 39-year-old Teresa M. Knowles of Volo entered her guilty plea in federal court on Wednesday.

In a written plea agreement, Knowles admitted she robbed a bank in Crystal Lake and a bank in Grayslake in March. In both cases, the U.S. Attorney's office says the tellers handed her money after she passed them notes demanding cash. She also admitted to trying to rob a bank in Johnsburg that same month, but the teller refused to hand over any money.

Knowles faces up to 20 years in prison for each count when she returns to court in February for sentencing.
