Community Joins W.A.C.O. For Thanksgiving Food Drive

The Woodfield Area Children's Organization's 20th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive runs from November 2 through November 20. Then on Saturday, November 21 we need volunteers to help sort and distribute everything, as W.A.C.O. supplies food to more than 200 families in need.

Non-perishable items such as canned vegetables, boxed potatoes, rice, pasta, soup, spaghetti & pasta sauce, canned meats, breakfast items, canned fruit, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter & jelly, gravy, stuffing mix, dessert mix, hamburger helper, etc. are needed.

In a true community effort, nearly 25 area schools and businesses in seven different towns are helping out this year. Food can be donated at: Algonquin: Jacobs High School; Bloomingdale: Rooster's, Walk-In Closet; Hampshire: Hampshire High School; Hanover Park: Denny's; Palatine: Harper College, Winston School, and Schaumburg: American Midwest Bank, The Art Institutes of Illinois, BMW of North America, Dooley School, Enders-Salk School, Goddard School, IDOT, Nation Pizza Products, Patrick BMW, Patrick Cadillac, Patrick Hyundai, Rosati's (1770 W. Wise), Schaumburg High School, Schaumburg Toyota, Village of Schaumburg (101 Schaumburg Ct.) and Weber Grill. In addition, the Rolling Meadows High School Wrestling Team will hold a food drive at their first meet on November 24.

W.A.C.O. needs volunteers to help us sort the food on Saturday, November 21. If you're interested please arrive at the Schaumburg Township Building, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates by 7:00 a.m. We expect to be finished by 10:30 a.m., if not sooner.
