Halloween is also known as All Hallows' Eve or All Saints' Eve. Many people believe that Halloween originated from - or was influenced by - Celtic harvest festivals and has links to Pagan roots.
Regardless, children in many countries around the world look forward to dressing in costumes and trick-or-treating.
Costume trends change each year based on pop culture, but classics like witches, ghosts and vampires are always top choices.
The first mass-produced Halloween costumes appeared in stores in the 1930s when trick-or-treating became popular in the United States.
