Volunteer opportunities abound at Marklund

Make a difference in the lives of others - while adding meaning to your own life - by volunteering at Marklund Day School and Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale, Ill.

Marklund has immediate volunteer opportunities available for teens and adults, age 14 and older, interested in assisting with community outings, activities, special events and support services.

"We have a place for you at Marklund, regardless of interest, age or how much time you can give," said Hilsa Hallihan, volunteer coordinator. "No matter what your gift, talent or skill, Marklund's staff needs you - and our clients need you, too."

Marklund offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities to help make everyday life possible for clients and students. For example, volunteers can assist with community outings; help with special events, like Marklund's summer games and Christmas Eve gift opening; assist in the classroom, and provide support services, like stuffing envelopes and doing computer work.

Those who volunteer at Marklund have described the work as fulfilling.

"I give my time and in return I receive a smile or a giggle from a resident, this is the best reward possible," said Marklund Volunteer Judi Mroz of Wheaton.

"Being a Marklund volunteer is a very rewarding experience, the feeling you get when you put a smile on the clients' faces is really indescribable," added Joel Santi of Oak Park.
