Domestic Violence Awareness Night in Hoffman Estates Nov. 12

State Rep. Michelle Mussman, the new chairwoman of the Northwest Suburban Alliance on Domestic Violence, will host a Domestic Violence Awareness Night in Hoffman Estates on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Higgins Education Center, 1030 W. Higgins Road.

Mussman will be joined by survivors of domestic violence for a night focused on awareness and prevention efforts. Speakers will provide support information, as well as share personal stories and poetry on their experiences.

"It is important for people to understand the emotional, physical and financial pain women and men can go through when they are a victim of domestic abuse," Mussman said. "I hope that this event can bring awareness to this growing problem and spread the word about resources available to help residents escape dangerous situations."
