Trade In Your Used Artificial Christmas Trees to Benefit Goodwill

The Greater Chicagoland Goodwill Stores & Donation Centers are teaming up with Treetime Christmas Creations of Lake Barrington in a unique artificial Christmas tree "Tree Trade-In" program. In an effort to spread holiday joy, area residents are being asked to donate their gently used artificial trees to benefit Goodwill, a non-profit organization whose mission is based in training and employment and provides people with a "hand up, not a hand out". The Treetime-Goodwill Annual "Tree Trade-In" campaign will run from October 1 through October 31, 2015.

Donated trees will be available for purchase at area Goodwill stores. Goodwill, which uses funds from selling donated items, provides training and job opportunities for people with disabilities, who are dislocated or disadvantaged. Treetime Christmas Creations, a national premium artificial Christmas tree and décor company, will accept donated artificial Christmas trees (4.5 feet and taller) at its Winter Wonderland Showroom, 22N102 Pepper Road, Lake Barrington or at Greater Chicagoland Goodwill Stores & Donation Centers (for locations visit AmazingGoodwill.com).

"Goodwill is pleased to partner with Treetime Christmas Creations on this 'Tree Trade-In' program. This program is a perfect fit for us," said Pat Boelter, Chief Marketing Officer for Goodwill. "Our shoppers appreciate value and selection, and through this program they will have the opportunity to purchase gently used artificial trees in good condition to make their holidays bright. The added benefit of shopping at Goodwill is that we reinvest the income from sales of donated items into training and employment programs which makes a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities."

Area residents who donate a tree will receive $75 off 7.5 ft. "Giving Selection" trees, or 15 percent off any Treetime artificial Christmas tree, to be redeemed at Treetime's Winter Wonderland Showroom located at 22N102 Pepper Road, Lake Barrington by November 2nd. "While we celebrate the holiday season year round at Treetime, we know the upcoming Christmas season is the time of year when families want to create a special feeling of joy in their homes," comments Laurie Kane, owner of Treetime Christmas Creations. "Our 'Tree Trade-In' has become a tradition around here, and we are thrilled to partner with Goodwill and better their mission of helping people. In addition, the donation program offers a 'greener' way for residents to pass on their Christmas trees, rather than adding to landfills."

Treetime Christmas Creations' large showroom is open and features more than 200 pre-lit, unlit and LED-lit artificial Christmas trees, along with unique ornaments, lights, trim and outdoor decorations in a family atmosphere. This year's newly decorated showroom is creatively divided into 15 themed areas, such as Home for the Holidays, Warm Winter Glow, Dashing and Dancing, and Forest Festival.

About Goodwill:

Goodwill's mission is to provide training, employment and supportive services for people who are dislocated workers, or have disadvantages or disabilities. In 2012 Goodwill served over 53,000 people in our communities. When you donate or shop at one of our Goodwill Store & Donation Centers, the income from the sale of donated items is reinvested in training and work opportunities for people who have disabilities, are dislocated or disadvantaged. Open seven days a week, we provide donors a convenient place to take their gently used clothing, electronics, and household items, with friendly donation attendants who will help unload your car. Besides investing in a great mission, your donations and purchases keep usable items out of landfills, so Goodwill is good for the environment, too! While we are a non-profit, our mission is based in work - a hand up, not a hand out. By shopping and donating to Goodwill you make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.
