Dozens rally in Elgin for bullying victims

Dozens of local residents, community leaders, emergency personnel and anti-bullying advocates rallied Sunday afternoon at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin to raise awareness and educate the public about bullying prevention. The first "Stand Up for Victims of Bullying" rally is timed with National Bullying Prevention Month. "We don't want kids to be bystanders anymore," said Sandy Reeves, Illinois chapter president of anti-bullying organization Stand for the Silent. Full story.

Funeral arrangements set for Buffalo Grove student

Funeral services have been set for 20-year-old Brett Lerner, a University of Illinois student from Buffalo Grove who was killed Friday in car accident in central Illinois. A synagogue service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Temple Chai, 1670 Checker Road in Long Grove, according to Shalom Memorial Funeral Home.
