Oakton Community College appoints new chief fundraiser

Mary Knight has been named Oakton Community College's new executive director of development, overseeing the college's fundraising activities and alumni programs.

Knight, who most recently was chief advancement officer and executive director of the educational foundation for Harper College, will start at Oakton Nov. 2.

She previously served as the chief development officer for the Mayo Clinic Health System, where she oversaw a $12.5 million hospital expansion campaign, an $8 million campaign to build a new emergency department, and a $2 million campaign to build a corporate child development center, officials said.

Knight holds a bachelor's degree in music, and a master's degree and Ph.D. in music theory. She will earn a base salary of $112,000.
