Girls tennis: Rosary's Goheen eliminated at state
The remaining players from the Fox Valley area participating in Day 2 at the girls state tennis tournament were all eliminated from further competition on Friday.
Rosary freshman Maria Goheen, the only area player left in the championship bracket, lost her fourth round match to Barrington's Michelle Linden 6-2, 6-4. Goheen was then eliminated by Grant's Gaby Schoenberg 6-0, 6-4.
Also in singles play, West Aurora's Elizabeth Stefancic was eliminated by Glenbard West's Caroline Maltby 7-6 (4), 6-4.
In doubles action, the St. Charles North team of Morgan Rerko/ Brittany Rohrsen fell to Stevenson's Alexandra Zoubareva/Elizabeth Ferdman 6-1, 6-1 and the North Stars' team of Emma Spellman/Shelby Thomas was eliminated by Molly Rueth and Molly Hughes of Glenbard West 6-0, 6-4.
Aurora Christian's Shelby Johnson/Madelynn Jurasek defeated Sophie Allison/Maggie Morris of Lyons 6-3, 6-3 before being eliminated by the Edwardsville team of Morgan Colbert/Grace Desse 6-1, 6-1.
