District 54 aims for new reading record

Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod and Hanover Park Village President Rod Craig were among the adult readers who assisted Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54's attempt Thursday to set a new world record for a shared reading experience.

All 43 of the district's early childhood classes and 70 kindergarten classes took part in the national campaign organized by Jumpstart's Read for the Record.

All participating teachers and guests read the children's book "Not Norman: A Goldfish Story," by author Kelly Bennett and illustrator Noah Z. Jones.
