Prime Publishing celebrates completion of charity drive

Northbrook, IL - Prime Publishing recently hosted a charity drive in partnership with Rush University Medical Center to collect handmade prayer shawls for sick patients in need. Organized through their yarn blog, StitchAndUnwind.com, the object of the drive was to have readers donate knit or crochet prayer shawls throughout the month of September.

Rush University Medical Center collects shawls year-round for their palliative care patients and usually receives around 15 shawls per month. By the end of the month-long charity drive, Prime Publishing had collected nearly 400 shawls from all over the world - that's more shawls than the hospital would usually receive in two years' time.

Prime Publishing and StitchAndUnwind.com have been so thrilled to do their part to help Rush University Medical Center over the past month.

Anyone still interested in donating a knit or crochet prayer shawl can find more information and a mailing address at the charity website, http://prayershawls.wix.com/prayershawlsatrush.

Prime Publishing connects with organizations on a regular basis. Most recently, Prime Publishing has successfully hosted charity drives for groups including the American Heart Association, Project Linus, Special Olympics, Warm Up America, the Heartland Alliance, and more.

With the help of their charitable readers, Prime Publishing has donated more than:

• 6,300 knit and crochet baby hats to the American Heart Association

• 200 homemade blankets (crochet afghans, baby blankets, and quilts) to Project Linus

• 134 afghans to Warm Up America and Build A Bed

• 100 homemade knit and crochet mittens to Mittens for Detroit
