Boys soccer: Grayslake Central handles Johnsburg

Nick Walker and Sebastian Hinetrosa scored first-half goals, and Grayslake Central's boys soccer team edged No. 5 Johnsburg 2-1 in the Class 2A Lakes regional semifinals Wednesday.

Leo Orozco assisted on both tallies for No. 4 Grayslake Central (11-8-3), which will play No. 6 Lakes in Friday's 4 p.m. regional final.

Conner Gosell made 7 saves in net for the Rams.

Warren 2, Hersey 1: At Mundelein, the top-seeded Blue Devils survived a scare against the No. 17 seed, prevailing in penalty kicks.

Warren (16-4-3) will play in the Class 3A regional final at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Hersey led 1-0 at halftime before Ivan Esquivel netted the equalizer for Warren. Alex Fratila earned the assist.

Blue Devils keeper Blair McCormick made 3 saves.

Warren edged the Huskies 3-2 in PKs.
