Rotary clubs seek food donations

For more than 26 years, the Rotary clubs of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling along with Rotary International District 6440 have teamed up to distribute holiday food baskets to less fortunate neighbors in the community.

Residents are asked to donate nonperishable food items such as canned vegetables, beans, rice, pasta, macaroni and cheese, stuffing mix, soup, cereal, peanut butter and jelly.

Donations can be brought to the boxes at the Alcott Community Center, the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center, Indian Trails Library, Vernon Area Public Library or Denny Snyder's office at 791 S. Buffalo Grove Road.

The clubs also will accept monetary donations. Checks payable to the Rotary Charitable Foundation of Buffalo Grove with "food baskets" on the memo line can be sent to P.O. Box 5062 Buffalo Grove, IL 60089.

The food drive runs through Sunday, Nov. 8 for distribution before Thanksgiving.
