Boys soccer: St. Charles East, Huntley win regional openers
St. Charles East 2, Conant 1: Jasminko Dizdarevic and Justin Stepien scored goals while Chris Edgerton and William Arnold had assists as the Saints (14-4-2) advanced to the championship game of the Class 3A Conant regional with this win. Steven Owens made 4 saves in goal for SCE, which will take on Wheaton Academy Friday at 6 p.m. for the regional title.
Huntley 1, Rockford Auburn 0: The Red Raiders (15-5-1) opened the postseason with a shutout win at the Class 3A Rockford Guilford regional. Diego Cazares scored off an assist from Jason Zobott for the game's only goal. Andrew Fulcer had 1 save in the net for Huntley, which will play Guilford Saturday at 3 p.m. for the regional title.
