League of Women Voters Glenview-Glencoe Begins Ambitious Year

From voter service and education to issues study to advocacy, the non-partisan Glenview-Glencoe League of Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe has begun an ambitious year of programs and initiatives. In Sept. the Glenview/Glencoe League joined 1,600 organizations nationwide in a voter registration drive. In addition to other locations, both Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South High Schools hosted the League's registration drive and yielded 129 new registered voters at the schools.

In the advocacy arena, the League has joined Independent Maps to place an amendment on the November 2016 ballot to establish an independent commission to redraw Illinois legislatives districts and end gerrymandering. The League has been gathering petition signatures since July and is hopeful the effort will usher in a amendment will appear on the November 2016 ballot

At the end of October the Glenview-Glencoe League will be part of a nationwide study on Money in Politics. The League will study campaign financing and the impact of Super Pacs on elections.
