Grant's Gold ties for 16th at state

Grant sophomore KiLynn Gold tied for 16th place in the Class AA girls golf state meet at Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur Saturday.

Making her first appearance at state, Gold, who played high school golf in Arizona last year, followed up Friday's 77 with an 81 for a two-day total of 158.

Led by junior Simone Mikaelian, who fired a 77 Saturday to finish in a tie for 31st, Libertyville (685) ended up seventh. Hinsdale Central won the state title with a 617.

Libertyville also counted Megan Sturonas' 82, Katherine Stegman's 87 and Maggie Piazzi's 88 Saturday. For the two days, Mikaelian shot a 162, Sturonas 165 (tie 40th), Stegman 176 (tie 67th) and Piazzi 182 (tie 84th).

Carmel senior Alexa Amato tied for 63rd after shooting an 88 for a two-day total of 174.
