Boys golf: Vernon Hills grabs fourth in 2A state meet

Justin Park fired a 76, giving him a two-day total of 151, and Vernon Hills' boys golf team finished fourth in the Class 2A state meet at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University in Normal on Saturday.

The Cougars (640) finished one shot behind Dunlap (639) and two behind runner-up Wheaton St. Francis (638). Morton won the state championship with a 615.

Park, a junior, finished alone in 11th place, while his Cougars teammate and sophomore Brian Favia had a 79 to tie for 31st (159). Vernon Hills also counted Ethan Lee's 79 and Taner Fulton's 82 Saturday. Lee and Fulton each had two-day totals of 166 to tie for 46th.

In Class 3A, Stevenson (661) finished 10th, while Hinsdale Central (621) won the state championship.

Jake Labow's 79 was Stevenson's top score Saturday. His 160 placed him in a tie for 34th overall. Kamaren Sandhu had a final-round 84 and tied for 69th with teammate James Dvorak (89 Saturday). Patriots freshman Jackson Bussell's 89 placed him 167th. Stevenson counted Jedi Jhu's final-round 85.

Libertyville junior Jacob Mueller shot a 76 Saturday and tied for 26th with a two-day 158.
