Roselle man with multiple warrants faces domestic battery charges

A Roselle man who has a case pending at the Rolling Meadows courthouse and multiple outstanding warrants from DuPage and Lake counties faces new domestic battery charges.

Daniel Jordan-Bainer, 23, of the 1000 block of Rodenburg Road, swore softly several times during his hearing Thursday afternoon before Cook County Judge Joel Greenblatt. Greenblatt ordered Jordan-Bainer held on $350,000 bail on the new charges and increased to $150,000 Jordan-Bainer's current bail in a pending Rolling Meadows case charging him with marijuana possession and battery to a police officer.

In the case up Thursday, prosecutors say Jordan-Bainer was in a Hoffman Estates home on Sept. 27 when his female companion refused to drive him to Chicago. Jordan-Bainer suspected she was going to see another man and demanded to see her phone, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Catherine Howlett.

The woman refused, and Jordan-Bainer punched her in the eye and threw her to the ground, Howlett said. Another person pulled Jordan-Bainer off the woman and she attempted to leave, but Jordan-Bainer kicked her in the ribs, knocked her down and held her there with his foot, telling a friend he "could have sex with her if he wanted," Howlett said.

At that point, the owners of the home returned, and the woman hid until Jordan-Bainer left, Howlett said.

Jordan-Bainer was sentenced to five days in jail earlier this year for possession of marijuana. He has an outstanding 2015 warrant out of Lake County on domestic battery and unlawful restraint charges.

In 2014, Jordan-Bainer was sentenced in DuPage County to 90 days in jail and two years probation for domestic battery. He violated that probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest, Howlett said.

That same year, also in DuPage, he was sentenced to 22 days in jail and two years probation. After violating that probation, Jordan-Bainer was resentenced to 45 days in jail and two years' probation, Howlett said. A warrant was subsequently issued for him on that charge.

His fourth warrant resulted from a 2014 DuPage battery case for which he was sentenced to 75 days in jail and 18 months of probation. His criminal background includes a 90-day jail sentence in 2013 on street gang and weapons charges, convictions in 2012 for driving on a suspended or revoked license and for street gang connections. Jordan-Bainer was sentenced to two years in prison in 2011 for aggravated battery. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail that same year for property damage, Howlett said.

Jordan-Bainer next appears in court on Nov. 6.
