'Spooktacular' coming to CLC

Kick off your family's Halloween weekend with "Spooktacular," a highflying circus of scare that performs at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County.

Spooks, specters and scaredy-cats contort and cavort through a highflying circus of scare. Vampires soar, skeletons stagger and acrobatic cats romp through a humorously haunted bazaar of the bizarre. Indulge your inner eerie in this family-friendly, bone-chilling delight.

Spooktacular is produced by New York-based Cirque-tacular Entertainment. Under the leadership of Tad Emptage, the group is complemented by a core group of 20 artist-creators and a roster of 300 of the nation's finest and unique performers. Their touring stage shows are a James Lumber Center favorite and include "Circurious," "The Acrobats of Cirque-Tacular," "Spook-Tacular," "Snowkus Pocus," "Mantryx" and the celebrated Atlantic City smash, "The Accused."

During the last eight years, Cirque-tacular Entertainment has given thousands of aerial and ground acrobatic performances around the world. Repeatedly praised by critics, for their "mind-boggling artistry and athleticism" and their "great feats of daring at the extreme edges of human capability," their acts have reached millions of people live or on TV. Critics have described Cirque-tacular's performers as "mesmerizing," "incredible," "truly impressive" and their production company as a "cutting edge leader of the new American vaudeville movement."
