'Death and Taxes': Comedic whodunit comes to Playhouse 38 in Geneva

"Death and Taxes," written by Pat Cook and directed by Lisa Pivaronas, will be performed this weekend at Playhouse 38 in Geneva.

"This must-see comedic whodunit, with fun twists and turns, takes place in the small southern town of Hendricks," said Traci Wicks, director of marketing and public relations for the Geneva Park District.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-18 at Playhouse 38, located at 524 W. State Street, Lower Level, Geneva.

"Audience members will have a blast, while enjoying a few laughs as the plot unfolds," Wicks said.

Audience members will interact with the cast to guess who turned up dead. The local drama teacher, Miss Martindale, sets up the "scene of the crime" at the city council meeting. As the plot unfolds, it becomes apparent that everyone on the council has had some dealings with the victim and it seems several of them have something to hide.

"This whodunit is a great way for adults to celebrate Halloween and enjoy a night out in downtown Geneva; great for a date night or a girl's night out," said Lisa Pivaronas, director of the show. "Come out and see if you can guess who is guilty of murder in this small town."

Cast members include: Mason Absher (Eddie), Karen Brhel (Kathleen), Jami Johnson (Lydia), Peggy Condon (Mattie), Autumn Burns (Cora), John Frankenthal (Carl), Michele Allen (Evelyn), Aaron Tanzer (Dr. Bishop), and Tyler Kinser (Westley).

Tickets are $15 in advance and are available at Sunset Community Center, or $20 at the door. Visit www.genevaparks.org for details.
