TIPS training set for alcohol servers and sellers in Spanish

ELGIN - Renz Addiction Counseling Center is providing certified TIPS (Training For Intervention ProcedureS) training in Spanish to individuals and businesses that sell and/or serve alcohol.

TIPS is a skill-based training program designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and drunken driving. A certified TIPS trainer provides participants with the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol-related problems and how to effectively intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies.

Illinois law (Public Act 99-0046) now requires BASSET/TIPS certification for servers and those checking ID's for alcohol service in Cook County (effective July 1, 2015) and in surrounding suburban counties (by July 1, 2016).

Business owners in McHenry, Kane and Cook counties can avoid costly fees and negative publicity, not to mention a tragic accident by providing this valuable training for their employees. Renz Center offers a flexible meeting time for small or large groups and is one of the few providers in Illinois that offers the training in Spanish.

Renz Prevention entered into TIPS training to further expand their role as a resource to individuals and businesses in creating a healthier and safer community. Anyone interested in the training may call Carlos Chavez at (847) 742-3545 x 266, to set up a TIPS Training.
