Loyola wins at Barrington; Stevenson prevails at Conant

Loyola claimed narrow victories over Barrington in all three relays to take top honors in the seven-team girls swimming invitational hosted by the Fillies on Saturday.

Barrington got victories from senior Kirsten Jacobsen in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.84) and 500 free (4:59.05), and Maggie Emary took to top honors in the 200 IM (2:11.50).

The Fillies' Emma Graves was second in the 100 fly (1:00.36) and the 200 IM (2:16.10). Sara Kate Capel took second in the 50 free (25.13).

Taking third for Barrington were Maggie Menso in the 500 free (5:01.34), Catherine Kitzman in the 100 breast (1:09.56) and Emary in the 100 back (1:01.24).

Loyola had winners in the 50 free (Cassidy Coughlin, 24.77), 100 back (Shannon Kearney, 58.93), 100 fly (Maria Kyle, 1:00.02), 100 free (Olivia Andrew, 53.36) and 100 breast (Claire Voss, 1:08.50).

Lyons Township placed third at 280.5 and York was fourth at 190.5.

Conant Invitational: In a meet that scores performances equally across three heats of competition, Stevenson's depth was rewarded with a victory.

The Patriots finished at 228 points, ahead of runner-up Hersey (211), Crystal Lake (169) and the host Cougars (157).

Top performers in Class A for the Patriots included Casey Kirby, who won the 50-yard freestyle (25.28) and 100 free (55.12), and freshman Ashley Carollo, who won the 100 back (1:00.96).

Stevenson also got individual wins from Iza Pelka in the 200 free (2:00.82) and from Irune Andres in the 200 IM (2:14.33). Carollo, Andres and Kirby also teamed with Rachel Song for the winning 200 medley relay (1:52.22).

Hersey got the top diving efforts in both Class A (Madeline Bovino, 352.70) and Class B (Alexandra Heidrich, 316.90). The Huskies also had a Class B winner in Sarah Petro (200 IM).

Conant's Sam Wooley won the Class B 50 free in 26.42.

Crystal Lake's Val Tarazi won the 100 fly in 57.70 and the 100 breast in an exceptional time of 1:03.62.
