Hersey still unbeaten in MSL East

Hersey's girls swimming and diving team improved to 4-0 in the Mid-Suburban East by topping visiting Buffalo Grove 137-49 on Thursday.

Jenny Lutz won the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.85) and 100 backstroke (1:05.88), and Olivia Kusio was tops in the 200 IM (2:20.86) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.71) for the Huskies.

Divers Alexandra Heidrich (227.25), Madeline Bovino (219.65) and Margaret Barton (205.65) delivered an impressive 1-2-3 sweep, and Hersey also won all three relays.

Buffalo Grove got victories from Alexa Jedryka in the 200 free (2:07.96) and 500 free (5:42.79).

Hersey will host Prospect, also unbeaten against MSL East opponents, in a dual meet next Thursday to decide the divisional crown.

Prospect d. Elk Grove: Kaitlin Sattley came up with victories in the 200-yard free (2:11.30) and 100 fly (1:07.12), and Abby Younger was a winner in the 200 IM (2:28.73) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.13) to pace a 145-38 victory for the host Knights.

Prospect swept the relays and also had victories from Gracie Dix (50 free), Kate Colehour (100 free) and Megan Pfeiffer (100 back).

Elk Grove's victory came in diving, as Anna Sprenger won with 213.35.

Schaumburg d. Hoffman Estates: It went down to the last relay, with the host Saxons prevailing 92-88 after Ingrid Hay anchored the winning quartet.

Schaumburg edged the Hawks 4:38-4:40.82 on the 400-meter free relay. Anything less than a victory in that race would've made Hoffman Estates the winner.

Hay also took top honors in the 50-meter free (29.90) and 100 back (1:10.41), and the Saxons had individual wins from Rebecca Kasner in the 200 free (2:36.60) and Alexandra Wimmer in the 400 free (5:38.92).

Hoffman Estates had the winning medley relay of Benit Varanauskaite, Casey Rawlings, Renata Widelak and Ann Cho (2:21.88).

Rawlings also won the 200 IM (2:47.62) and 100 breast (1:23.82), while Widelak won the 100 fly (1:19.40), Cho won the 100 free (1:10.97) and the Hawks' Abigail Fuscone had the top diving score (155.15).

Fremd d. Conant: The visiting Vikings took control with a 1-2 finish in the medley relay on the way to a 96-80 decision over the Cougars.

Senior Grace Grzybek was a double individual winner for Fremd, with the fastest finishes in the 200-yard IM (2:13.48) and 100 back (1:00.38).

Other Fremd winners included Emily Bolger in the 200 free (2:05.76), Kristina Buzuloiu in the 100 fly (1:04.26) and MJ Poss in the 500 free (5:54.58).

Conant's Sam Wooley won the 50 free (25.68) and the Cougars also got wins in diving (Bailey Hornstein, 211.7) and the 100 breast (Lea Cejvan, 1:12.19).

Rolling Meadows d. Wheeling: Betsy Zanocco won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free, events in which the host Mustangs had 1-2-3 finishes, to lead a 130-46 victory over the Wildcats.

Other double winners for Meadows were Grace Nykol (200 free, 500 free) and Jessie Ligenza (200 IM, 100 breast). Bailey Rowley won the 100 fly in 1:04.63) and had legs on all three winning relays.

Barrington d. Palatine: The host Fillies won the first and last relays and were able to turn back Palatine 105-77.

Individual winners for Barrington included Maggie Menso in the 200-yard free (1:56.71), Maggie Emary in the 100 fly (1:02.27), Maria Pritchett in the 500 free (5:29.25) and Mia Chen in the 100 back (1:02.75).
