Solar energy farm planned for site near Anderson airport

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - Plans are moving ahead for a solar energy farm on land near the Anderson Municipal Airport in central Indiana.

The project is among several being developed by the Indiana Municipal Power Agency in communities where is provides electricity for local power systems.

Anderson Light & Power superintendent Tony Pochard tells The Herald Bulletin (http://bit.ly/1hrcqxa ) the solar farm is being built on a 53-acre site owned by the airport that can't be used for other development because it is near a runway. He says the solar farm is expected to be in operation by next June.

The power agency now has solar-generating facilities in Frankton, Crawfordsville, Rensselaer and Peru, with another in Pendleton becoming operational soon.
