Medical pot dispensary set to open next month in Buffalo Grove

The first medical marijuana dispensary in Buffalo Grove, Professional Dispensaries of Illinois (PDI Medical), is set to open next month in a storefront at 1623 Barclay Blvd., the company announced Thursday. It is expected to serve primarily patients from Buffalo Grove and surrounding communities in northern Cook, Lake and McHenry counties. The dispensary will offer pharmaceutical-grade cannabis products, including edibles, tinctures, concentrates, and buds. PDI Medical will host a credentialing event, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Mark Drugs, 1020 Milwaukee Ave. #140, Deerfield, to help qualified patients receive state approval to purchase medical marijuana. PDI Medical states it is working closely with state and local officials to create a facility that exceeds Illinois standards for dispensaries. "We don't expect any issues, but we've required that strong security protocols be in place so that the community and surrounding area will be safe," Police Steven R. Casstevens said in a news release.
