Conant claims top honors in Hoffman Estates regional

Conant senior Megan Nagorzanski shot an 81 to finish second individually and help the Cougars win the team championship of the Class AA Hoffman Estates girls golf regional on Wednesday.

The Cougars carded a score of 340 at Bridges of Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates to finish ahead of Niles West (365) and Schaumburg (374). All three teams advance to the Oak Park-River Forest sectional at Cog Hill in Lemont on Monday.

Rounding out the field were Maine South (393), Rolling Meadows (414), Elk Grove Village (415), Maine West (432), Resurrection (439), Hoffman Estates (454) and Taft (483).

Completing the Cougars card were sophomore Nimra Syed (84), sophomore Lina Jang (87) and freshman Michelle Zhang (88).

Sophomore Trinity Corwin led Schaumburg with a 90, followed by senior Gianna Fanelli (91), sophomore Jennifer Cappello (93) and senior Yumi Otsu (100).

Advancing area individuals were Elk Grove senior Mia Loxley (86), Hoffman Estates sophomore Christina Wood (98), Maine West senior Renee Adam (99), Rolling Meadows senior Katie Hidalgo (102) and Elk Grove senior Gabby Vazquez (102).

Fremd sectional: Loyola (310), New Trier (313) and Glenbrook North (322) advanced at Palatine Hills and advanced to the Glenbrook North Class AA sectional on Monday at Sportsman's Country Club in Northbrook.

Glenbrook South (325) was fourth, followed by Fremd (331), Prospect (334), Hersey (342), Evanston (419) and Wheeling (494).

Area qualifiers were Fremd senior Jaehee Hur (74), Fremd senior Haezi Jung (75), Prospect junior Kate Ponzi (82), Prospect junior Sabrina Accardi (83), Prospect junior Mary Schafer (83), Hersey junior Jasmin Lee (83) and Hersey junior Sophia Cacioppo (85).

New Trier senior Louise McCulloch was the medalist with a 72. Hannah Buchband of Glenbrook South had a hole-in-one on the par 3 fourth hole.
