Mt. Prospect adds 2nd day to Oktoberfest

Celebrate in the great outdoors this weekend at Mount Prospect's annual Fall Fest and Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, in downtown Mount Prospect, Emerson Street and Busse Avenue.

Oktoberfest, geared to adults, is 4-11 p.m. Friday and 4-11 p.m. Saturday, with live entertainment in a heated tent, traditional German food and beverages.

This year's featured beers are Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest and local craft brewer Scorched Earth's Cream Ale. Mrs. P and Me and Central Continental Bakery will serve authentic German food, along with Completely Nuts.

On Friday, Jak Tripper plays from 6-8 p.m. and The Good Mondays perform from 8:30-11 p.m.

Saturday's family-oriented Fall Fest is from 1-4 p.m. with hay rides, pony rides, bounce houses, pumpkin decorating, crafts and balloons, stilt walkers and the traditional Never-Ending Trick or Treat Candy Line.

Immediately following the Fall Festival, Oktoberfest returns from 4-11 p.m. featuring the Phenix German Band from 6-11 p.m. under the heated tent. This is the first year Oktoberfest has gone two nights.

Parking is available in the Village Hall Parking Garage, 50 S. Emerson St., and other spots downtown.

The festival is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association, a nonprofit that promotes all that downtown Mount Prospect has to offer.
