Glenbard South heads to sectional

Defending Class 2A runner-up Glenbard South advanced out of Tuesday's St. Patrick boys golf regional by shooting a 303 at Pine Meadow Golf Club in Mundelein.

Despite the low score, the Raiders placed second at the regional behind Fenwick's 300.

Russell Matos again led the Raiders with a 72, and fellow senior Christopher Dufort and junior Jake Seaver each carded a 75. Junior Tim Weesner earned the Raiders' fourth score with an 81.

Fenwick's Christian Early was the individual champion with a 71.

The Raiders will play at Monday's Nazareth sectional at Broken Arrow Golf Course in Lockport.

Montini placed fifth with a 343. Timothy Christian was seventh at 372, and Lisle was eight with a 375.

Class 2A Kaneland regional:

St. Francis placed second as a team to advance to Monday's sectional, shooting a 313 at Hughes Creek Golf Course in Elburn.

Seniors Connor Buckley and Jonathan Nocek carded matching 77s for St. Francis.

Wheaton Academy also advanced with a third-place 320. Kaneland won the regional with a 309.

Senior Grant Gosden led the Warriors with a 75.

Class 3A Naperville Central regional:

Neuqua Valley won the team championship at the Links at Carillon, and sophomore Tim Vercautren won the individual title by shooting a 71.

Seniors Nick Walker and Jack Richards each carded a 74 for the Wildcats.

Naperville North placed third to advance to the St. Charles East sectional at St. Andrews, shooting a 315 and winning the tiebreaker over rival Naperville Central. Senior Connor Ladone's 78 topped the Huskies.

The Redhawks' consolation prize is to send three individuals on to the sectional: sophomore Tommy Dunsire, senior Matt Dykstra and senior Max Welu.

Class 3A Lake Park regional:

At Indian Lakes Resort, York shot a first-place 294, and the host Lancers took second with a 324. Oak Park won the third advancing team score with a 334. Addison Trail took fourth at 346.

York's Will Gunst was the individual champion with a 71. Lake Park was led by senior Hunter Treiber's 78.

Four Blazers advanced individually: freshman Blaise Morris, senior Jacob Bartkiewicz, junior Georgie Neri and senior Santino Bilatta.

Fenton's Andrew Hill also will play at the Conant sectional at Bridges of Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates on Monday.

Class 1A Seneca regional:

IC Catholic Prep will move on to the Byron sectional. The Knights shot a 327 and placed second behind Chicago Christian. Sophomore Connon Leahy paced the Knights with a 73.
