No injuries in Lombard house fire

No injuries were reported in a Monday night fire that caused roughly $50,000 damage to a Lombard home, officials said Tuesday.

Firefighters responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a report of a bedroom fire in a house on the 1100 block of South Finley Road.

Crews arrived to find fire rolling out of a first-floor window of the two-story house. A neighbor was attempting to extinguish the fire from outside the home with a garden hose.

The fire was quickly brought under control, but it caused smoke and heat damage throughout the house, authorities said. All the residents were able to escape on their own after being alerted to the fire by smoke detectors.

Crews from the Villa Park and Oak Brook fire departments and the Addison and York Center fire protection districts assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
