Elgin Riverside Club to honor 'Man of the Year' Nov. 7

The Elgin Riverside Club's Man of the Year Committee would like to formally announce that they have chosen Brandon E. Schultz as the 2015 Man of the Year. He has been an active club member since October 2001.

Schultz held the office of secretary in 2002 and held the office of trustee from 2004-12 when he stepped down to focus on his career.

He has assisted with various projects at the club including the kitchen and bar remodel, HVAC replacement, floor tile replacement in the pool room and backroom, ceiling tile repair and spring cleanup efforts.

Schultz ran the meat raffles for the turkey raffle and holiday party and has also volunteered at the annual golf outing, Margaritaville (12 years) at the Grill, Beer Can Chicken (8 years) as the Grill Master, Friday Fish Fry (6 years) as a cook.

Schultz has helped with various other events such as Halloween party, Oktoberfest and the 125th anniversary celebration.

Born in Wausau, Wisconsin, Schultz graduated from Larkin High School in 1999. He attended ITT and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree in November 2000. He and Calicia Koch will marry in October.

Schultz worked in the fire sprinkler design field at General Fire Sprinkler and Fox Valley Fire until taking a position with Sargent & Lundy in January 2012. He now works on mechanical/structural design at the nuclear power plants, Byron and Braidwood.

For these reasons, the committee felt Brandon was deserving of this honor. Congratulations Brandon!
