Barrett scores in stoppage time, Sounders draw Galaxy 1-1

SEATTLE (AP) - Chad Barrett scored in the third minute of stoppage time to give the Seattle Sounders a 1-1 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy, who clinched a playoff spot in front of 56,097 fans Sunday night at CenturyLink Field.

After Marco Pappa took a corner from the attacking right side, Sounders defender Brad Evans flicked it off his head across the goal where Barrett, who came on in the 85th minute, ran onto the ball and drove it into the net from 2 yards (meters) away.

In the 36th minute, Robbie Keane converted a Seattle defensive giveaway into a goal. Seattle's Zach Scott, playing on the defensive left side, sent the ball toward Gonzalo Pineda at the top of the box. But he left it short, and Pineda couldn't reach it.

Keane ran on to the errant pass, taking it to the top of the penalty spot and firing into the back right center for his 17th of the year.

FC Dallas became the first Western Conference team to clinch a playoff spot with a commanding 4-1 win over the Houston Dynamo after David Texeira scored twice and Kellyn Acosta added a third second-half goal.

Texeira put Dallas ahead when he fired a rocket from 20 yards that caromed off the crossbar in the 51st minute. Kellyn Acosta one-timed a shot off the crossbar 2 minutes later, and Texeira added an insurance goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Ricardo Clark equalized for Houston after Mauro Diaz scored from a penalty to give Dallas the early lead.

In Commerce City, Colorado, Joao Plata and Luke Mulholland scored 10 minutes apart in the first half as Real Salt Lake beat Colorado 2-1 to eliminate the Rapids from the playoff race.

The Rapids struck first when Kevin Doyle headed a long cross from Sean St. Ledger in the 16th minute, snapping a shot from 15-yards out that found its way into the far corner.

Real Salt Lake equalized in the 33rd minute when Plata bent a free kick over the Colorado wall and just under the crossbar.

Juan Manuel Martinez' shot in the 43rd minute was headed away by Colorado, but Mulholland headed the ball to his feet and sent in a crisp shot from the top of the penalty area that found the far corner.

Salt Lake is three points out of the final playoff spot with three games remaining.
