Beer banner draws attention as Yanks discuss Sabathia rehab

NEW YORK (AP) - CC Sabathia's alcohol problem drew attention at Yankee Stadium. So did the backdrop at Monday's news conference - a banner with several beer logos.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi and general manager Brian Cashman talked about the pitcher's decision to enter a rehab center. They spoke in the stadium interview room in front of a Major League Baseball banner for the AL wild-card game that advertised "presented by Budweiser."

Budweiser is the presenting sponsor for Tuesday night's game between the Houston Astros and New York.

Comments on social media noted the logo, in light of Sabathia's situation.

"CC Sabathia made an important life decision and we are fully supportive of his seeking treatment," MLB said in a statement. "This situation involving an individual player should not in any way impact baseball's relationship with Budweiser, a longtime valued partner that constantly promotes drinking responsibly."
