Wauconda runs to pair of wins

Boys cross country

Grant wins: At Cooks Park, Grant defeated Wauconda (20-35) and Round Lake (23-33).

Omid Navidzadeh of Grant took first place with a 16:51. Round Lake's top finisher was Carlos Rosas, who placed third with a 17:06.

Collin McFadden had Wauconda's best time. He finished sixth with a 17:36.

Vernon Hills wins: At Foss Park in North Chicago, Vernon Hills defeated both Lakes (15-50) and North Chicago (15-50).

Shane Williamson of Vernon Hills took first place with a 17:02 as the Cougars swept the top eight places.

Peoria invite: At Peoria on Saturday, Carmel's boys placed 14th out of 40 teams.

The Corsairs' contributors included Mike Cusack (16:10), Stephen Lacke (16:10), Cameron Dean (16:28), Jack Teehan (16:39), Tino Alivia (16:46), John Caffarelli (17:21) and Zach Schneider (17:34).
