Barcelona, Chelsea both lose; Aguero nets 5 goals

LONDON (AP) - Barcelona and Chelsea both stumbled to losses on Saturday to make a bad week even worse for two of Europe's defending league champions.

Sergio Aguero was back to his very best for Manchester City, scoring five goals in a big win over Newcastle.

Here is a look at the top European leagues on Saturday:

Chelsea fell to its fourth loss of the Premier League season, leaving Jose Mourinho worried about the possibility of being fired.

After Saturday's 3-1 home loss to Southampton, Mourinho pledged he won't walk away from the job without a fight.

"If the club wants to sack me, they have to sack me, because I'm not running away from my responsibility, my team," Mourinho told Sky Sports television.

Chelsea is only four points above the relegation zone and 10 points behind fledgling leader Manchester City. Its latest setback overshadowed Sergio Aguero's five-goal performance as City trashed Newcastle 6-1.

Aleksandar Mitrovic headed Newcastle in front in the 18th minute and it took Aguero until three minutes before halftime to equalize.

But in a 13-minute spell at the start of the second half, Aguero added another four goals, while Kevin de Bruyne also got in on the scoring act for the leaders.

Sunderland threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against West Ham, while Marko Arnautovic gave Stoke a 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Leicester quickly bounced back from its first loss of the season last weekend by winning 2-1 at Norwich, while Crystal Palace beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 to move into third place.

Promoted clubs Bournemouth and Watford drew 1-1.

SPAIN

With key midfielder Andres Iniesta having joined Lionel Messi on the injured list in midweek, Barcelona lost 2-1 at struggling Sevilla to miss the chance to take the provisional lead in the Spanish league.

Striker Michael Krohn-Dehli scored in the 52nd and set up Vicente Iborra's goal in the 58th to give Sevilla its first home win against Barcelona in eight years.

Neymar scored Barcelona's lone goal by converting a 74th-minute penalty kick. Barcelona struck the post five times and was stopped by an outstanding performance by Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico.

In other games Saturday, Granada drew Deportivo La Coruna 1-1, Sporting Gijon edged Espanyol 2-1, Eibar defeated Las Palmas 2-0 and 10-man Malaga beat Real Sociedad 3-1 for its first win of the season.

ITALY

Carpi recorded its first ever Serie A win with a 2-1 victory over Torino as new coach Giuseppe Sannino had an immediate effect, while Chievo Verona rescued a 1-1 draw in its derby match at home to Hellas Verona.

Sannino was hired on Tuesday to replace Fabrizio Castori, who was sacked after six matches, with Carpi bottom of the table with just two points.

Carpi took the lead with a bit of luck as Gabriel Silva's effort crashed off the left post and went in off Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli's shoulder.

The home side doubled its advantage in the 72nd when Ryder Matos headed Marco Borriello's cross into the bottom right corner, while Torino pulled one back three minutes later when Maxi Lopez converted a penalty after being brought down by Igor Bubnjic.

Chievo's Lucas Castro headed home Massimo Gobbi's cross six minutes from time after Verona's controversial opener. Television replays showed that Eros Pisano was clearly offside when Vangelis Moras flicked on Federico Viviani's free kick.

FRANCE

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette scored his second league goal this season to give his struggling club a much-needed 1-0 win over in-form Reims on Saturday.

Lacazette, the French league's top goal scorer last season, missed a penalty when he hit the crossbar in the 41st minute but made amends before the interval with a low shot into the corner.

Lacazette's goal lifted the club to fifth in the standings, level on points with Reims but with a better goal difference. Fourth-place Rennes also has 15 points ahead of Sunday's match in Monaco.

Torrential rain led to match between Nice and Nantes being suspended at 2-2 after 46 minutes. The French league said the match will be replayed at a date still to be determined.

Angers continued its excellent run of form with a 1-0 win over Bastia for its fifth league victory, while last-place Ajaccio failed to hold on to its lead in a 2-2 draw against Toulouse, and Guingamp won 1-0 at 10-man Troyes.
