Warren wins Cougar Classic

Warren's boys golf team took top honors in the Vernon Hills' Cougar Classic held at White Deer Run Golf Course on Saturday.

The Blue Devils shot 323 to take first place in a seven-team field that also included second-place Vernon Hills (328) and third-place Lake Zurich (341).

Brian Favia of Vernon Hills had the best finish, a 75, while Trevor Britton of Warren took second with a 77.

Warren also counted scores from Karl Tolentino (79), Orlando Avila (81) and Zane Blevins (86).

Nate Hughes of Lake Zurich and Mitch Kenston of Libertyville were in a group of three tied for fourth place at 80.

Libertyville shot 347 and placed fourth.

Stevenson takes fifth: At the Bruce Slovitt Trevian Invitational at Winnetka Golf Club, Stevenson (322) placed fifth out of 16 teams.

Mundelein's Ryan Magee shot 77 and took seventh place. Meanwhile, teammate Tyler White placed 10th with a 78.

Loyola won the invitational with a 307.

Girls golf

Grant takes fifth: Of 11 teams at the Blue Devil Invite, the Grant girls golf team finished fifth, and was the top finisher from Lake County.

Sophomore KiLynn Gold topped Grant (384) with an 81. She was the third best individual finisher overall. Teammate Brianna Burgeson turned in a 95.

Buffalo Grove won the invitational with a 350.
